New data suggests that Missouri continues to miss out on the benefits of Medicaid expansion. According to a study released by the Missouri Foundation for Health, net new health-care spending and the reduction of state government spending on MO HealthNet would generate a multitude of positive impacts on the state’s economy. Vice President of Health Policy with the organization Sheldon Weisgrau says an estimated increase of two-point-five billion dollars in economic output for the state is just the start.

The report also predicted an increase of 16 thousand-plus jobs between 2022 and 2026 if the state were to expand Medicaid under the 2014 Affordable Care Act to serve adults earning up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level.
